Research
With traditionally written academic texts, we’ve found that our students tend to see research as the business of libraries only. However, our collaborators make evident through these clips that they elaborately plan their video productions using a variety of primary and secondary sources.
The kinds of sources collaborators mention consulting vary greatly, ranging from news footage, academic articles, internet research, music, and other video, to remote spaces, mentors, friends, and relevant strangers. A number of collaborators in the course of interviews described the ways led to one another, and discovery.
Questions to which collaborators respond in these clips include: who did you consult about the project and why? What primary and secondary sources did you use? Who did you choose to interview, and why? And how would you compare the process of researching for video with your research for other classes?
